Elegoo’s range of both resin and FDM printers have become well-known since the company’s founding in 2015. Always seeking to improve their 3D printers without sacrificing affordability, Elegoo make 3D printing accessible to all skill levels and all budgets.
The new Neptune 4 Pro is an addition to their FDM 3D printer range, and it will be available for pre-order on the Elegoo website from June 1st at 2pm (UTC). Here we’re going to look at all the reasons why 3D printing enthusiasts, including us, of course, are excited about it.
Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro Features
High Printing Speed
Most 3D printing enthusiasts will know that the slower the speed, the more reliable the print. But sometimes you just want your print out and ready, so a good print speed without sacrificing quality is important for impatient hobbyists and business owners alike.
If you fall into one of those categories, you’ll be happy to know that the Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro can reach a maximum printing speed of 500mm/s based on experimental data. If you’re familiar with standard FDM printers, you’ll know just how incredibly fast this is.
The speed is thanks to the built-in Klipper firmware, which comes included with the printer, allowing you to print at top speeds right away. However, you’ll most likely need to slow this down to get precise and accurate prints – it’s just a theoretical maximum.
Intelligent Zoning Heating Function
The Neptune 4 Pro has a heated bed for better layer adhesion and more reliable prints, ideal for filaments like ABS. The intelligent heating function prevents overheating and ensures efficient energy use, so it doesn’t get any hotter or go for any longer than necessary.
This means you can ensure reliable printing while knowing that the Neptune 4 Pro is helping you stay as green as can be.
All Metal Dual-axis Guide Rail
The Neptune 4 Pro is equipped with all metal dual-axis guide rails. Compared with single Z-axis screw motors, this Z-axis movement is more stable, leading to better print accuracy.
Combined Manual and Automatic Leveling
With 121 (11×11) points of leveling, the Neptune 4 Pro automatically adjusts to ensure reliable, efficient printing without the hassle of manual leveling.
For any specific leveling needs, you can also adjust the bed manually using the nobs built into the frame.
300°C Nozzle Dual Gear Direct-drive Extruder
Neptune 4 Pro sports the new self-developed dual-gear direct drive extruder with a 5.2:1 reduction ratio, ensuring powerful extrusion and smoother filament feeding.
Paired with copper-titanium all-metal throat pipe and unique air duct design to effectively improve the heat dissipation of the throat pipe and reduce nozzle blockage risk.
With a 300°C high-temp nozzle and an extended hot end, which means the filament can be fully melted and uniformly flow out even at high printing speed.
Efficient & Instant Cooling
ELEGOO also considered that the faster heating filament would make the machine hotter, so they added 2 thickened double-sided 4015 model cooling fans with strong wind for more comprehensive and efficient heat dissipation.
There are also 4×4020 ball-bearing blower fans behind the print head to quickly cool down the newly deposited model, ensuring good print quality even at a very fast printing speed.
Large Build Area
For those of you with decent-sized projects in mind, you’ll be very happy to know that the Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro has a respectable build area of 225 x 225 x 265mm. Combined with the print speed, this means you can make medium-sized projects in no time at all.
This is excellent news for anyone with big plans and impatient minds, and is especially useful for small business owners who need to make larger prints in less time.
Clog Detection
Clogged filament is very dangerous for your 3D printer, and can even cause bigger problems down the line. Fortunately, the Neptune 4 Pro comes with both filament run-out and clog detection, and will stop the print and alert you to the issue.
This not only means that you’ll waste less filament through a clogged nozzle, it also saves energy by ensuring the printer isn’t running if it runs out of material to work with. This also means fewer failed prints – especially useful for longer prints you’d have to start over with if it failed near the end.
Price
Elegoo prides itself on making 3D printing affordable and accessible to all households. Given the heated bed, automatic bed leveling, high-quality prints, impressive print speed, and large build area, it’s almost impossible to believe that it goes for only $299.
And, Elegoo have also released the Neptune 4, the basic version of Neptune 4 Pro, which also has a maximum printing speed of 500mm/s – and it sells for just $259.
This means you can start printing even big projects in a fraction of the time for a bargain price.
