3D printing your own Warhammer figures and scenery adds another layer of fun by offering limitless customization. You can tailoring your creations perfectly to either your personal style or the game’s intended aesthetics as you prepare for battle.

In this guide, I;m going to share some of my favorite sites to find STL files for Warhammer 40k minifigure and why you’d want to go for them. I’ll also throw in a few choice examples of the coolest Warhammer 3D prints to give you some inspiration to get started.

MyMiniFactory

MyMiniFactory is a wonderful resource for finding Warhammer 3D print files. There’s a lot to be said for the designers and uploaders, as most of them give away their creations for free.

Even premium Warhammer miniatures found here only cost around $1.50, so there’s no reason not to check it out!

My personal favorite of the premium models is this dragon. But if you like to keep your army a little more on the human side, then you should check out the STL files for this warrioress minifigure. The detailing of each is of professional quality and well worth the cheap price.

Warhammer sets are still fairly cheap and affordable for the average tabletop gamer thanks to its popularity. But that doesn’t mean you have to pay for your minifigures.

Fortunately, there’s a whole range of free 3D printing files for Warhammer minifigures available on MyMiniFactory, which actually hosts some of the largest and most unique Warhammer 3D prints that you won’t find anywhere else.

Whether you want a customizable Barbarian or this Grizzled Witch Hunter, you can select which variety you like and get to printing. The detailing may not be as precise as the real thing, but you can’t argue that for the price of zero dollars, they’re very impressive figures.

But don’t let that discourage you from checking out Cults for your 3D printable Warhammer needs. The selection is massive and many of the models’ quality is tough to top, like this free Space Hulkkk minifigure.

What I prefer about Cults’ selection over MyMiniFactory’s is the extended range of miniatures. Warhammer is a war game, and war doesn’t just involve people. If you need set dressings or tactical structures to place on your battlefield, then Cults is the place to go.

Warhammer extras like this building or these ruins provide excellent set pieces for own terrain as well as tactical points you can factor into your strategy. All-in-all, these 3D Warhammer terrain files are well worth a good look for any player who wants compatible additions to reinvent their game.

The STL files for Warhammer you’ll find on Cults aren’t restricted to the game itself. As well as minifigures like my personal favorite, the Demonhunter Inquisitor, you can find some awesome props for any fan of the tabletop wargames.

There’s this chainaxe or this Omnisian axe for anyone who wants to deck out their homes with cool props, and even this Warhammer-themed phone stand! There’s something for everyone here and the files are rarely that expensive, so dive on in!

Crowdfunding Sites

Crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter aren’t normally the first options to come to mind when you’re searching for Warhammer STL files, but I promise that the passion with which these artists work produces some awesome results.

My love of all things Eldritch and spooky naturally makes Cthulu Unbound my personal favorite of these projects on Kickstarter. The detailing is exquisite and the potential for fun in-game is clear to see. The Aurora Vanguard project is also worth checking out if you’re a fellow fan of the magic arts and want to add a little more mysticism to your war game.

Warhammer is not just a man’s game, though, and there are plenty of options for awesome warrioresses out there too. I personally love these STL Warhammer files for The Temptress Institute, they’re some of the coolest designs around with promises of more to come if you pledge today!

Indiegogo is another site with a host of Warhammer STL files you can help bring to life. This 3D printed post-apocalyptic terrain is perfect for any Warhammer set, for example.

It’s not just crowdfunding sites, either. Many creators have taken to Patreon to help fund their work, giving them the time to create some fantastic 3D printed Warhammer designs like the tabletop prints made by The Evil One.

Standout creator Archvillain Games has some fantastic rewards for Patreon subscribers too, and is well worth a look for any fan of the fantastical or sci-fi sides of tabletop games.

Printables

3D printing giant Prusa has developed Printables, a community space for designers to share their creations and collections with fellow enthusiasts.

Printables is home to some of the best and most useful 3D printed Warhammer figurines and additions to enhance any game. This is because Prusa has cultivated a welcoming community that openly shares its creations for all to enjoy.

High-quality STL files for Warhammer figurines are easy to find. This collection is sure to prove an excellent addition to any tabletop army, for example. As a bonus, there are also these Warhammer objective marker files to help keep track of your strategy.

There’s also this design for a Battle Dispersion Die if you happen to misplace your own. It’s handy to use all the time or keep as a spare in case yours goes AWOL.

I tend to space out a lot, even when doing something fun. If you do the same, then you’ll want to print out these movement tokens to keep track of your unit’s movements.

Printables is an active and rewarding community, hosting contests for creators with prizes like free filament and even 3D printers.

CGTrader

CGTrader is one of the best places online to find more options for STL minifigures of all kinds. Naturally, this marketplace lends itself well to the Warhammer scene, and hosts a great range of 3D print minifigures for tabletop gamers.

Before going to CGTrader, you’re going to want to have a decent idea of exactly the kind of Warhammer model you’re looking for. Simply searching ‘Warhammer’ yields over 4,000 results (only around 360 of which are free).

Be careful, though, as many of the models found on CGTrader may not produce the desired results on standard or cheap home 3D printers. A lot of these designers have access to more impressive tech than the average hobbyist, so make sure you’ve got a machine capable of handling the high-detailed prints available here before getting your hopes up.

This variety is great news though, with everything from Citizens of the Old World miniatures to the Death Division Kill Squad and even some impressive terrain options!

That being said, The Everard Demon vs. Paladin files are a great starting point for any homemade army, printed in poses so you can practically hear the battle cry. And these Bloodthirsty Demons are sure to send a chill down your opponent’s spine.

If you want to go all-out, then try this collection of 19 Warhammer minifigures you can buy all at once to give your collection a head start. You can’t argue with a collection that stands out in both quality and quantity!

For a truly eclectic team for the dedicated tabletop warrior, then I recommend checking out this amazing bundle of fantasy Warhammer figurines to diversify your forces.

But before you dive in, it’s worth noting that CGTrader is a resource for 3D modeling in general, not specifically 3D printing. While this is good news for game developers and animators out there, it means that if you’re looking exclusively for STL files then you may end up disappointed.

Gambody

Gambody is a comprehensive site for all things 3D printing. Their massive collection of high-resolution models from users all over the world may not always be cheap, but the quality of thousands of their models more than speaks for itself.

The site offers not only professional-grade models, but also detailed specs and instructions to make sure your printer is up to the task. They do this by telling you the optimal tech with which to print each model including the best type of printer (FDM, SLA, or SLS) and the kind of settings needed for the best results.

The only major downside of Gambody is its majority focus on videogames and comic books over tabletop figurines or more general 3D printed models. This means that if you’re looking exclusively for 3D printed Warhammer figures, you’re going to have to get very creative.

You may need to substitute your standard Warhammer lot with Orc the Executioner, for example, or replace your demonic entities with remixes of Illidan Stormrage.

But if you’re willing to expand beyond the officially recognized Warhammer scene, then Gambody is a great place to start.

Pinshape

Pinshape is another community-driven marketplace where any 3D printing enthusiast can share or sell their designs.

For 3D printing Warhammer models, you’ll find a lot of great terrain and even cosplay items alongside models for use in active gameplay like this catapult.

But the main reason to go to Pinshape is its blog. Welcoming total beginners to 3D printing, it discusses an educational section alongside some of their more popular models to gently guide newcomers to the world of 3D design and printing.

This means that Pinshape is the ideal site for those of you looking for Warhammer 3D prints but may not be confident in your skills yet.

So fret not, even if you’ve got limited experience, Pinshape will get you printing some of their amazing models like Undead Beastmen in no time!

War Layer

So you’ve got all your awesome Warhammer minifigures 3D printed, but there’s a problem; where are they going to fight? While we have discussed a few choice 3D printed Warhammer terrain models here, we’ve not gone into much detail with them on the other sites.

This is because War Layer has you covered, focusing almost exclusively on 3D printed terrain models for tabletop games!

These include everything from set pieces like combat zones and heavy goods vehicles and machinery.

War Layer was started by noted Thingiverse user aaskedall, and is still relatively new. So while the collection is quite small compared to the other sites we’ve seen, it’s worth keeping an eye on if you want to keep printing more terrain, buildings, and props for your Warhammer games.

This design is as imposing as it is detailed, and should be a great minifigure for any player who wants to add a little Arkham horror to their game.

Solarius, The Sunfire Spear

Official Warhammer lore is impressively deep and shockingly diverse, spreading across just about every kind of artistic medium. Like any franchise, fans have made and spun their own takes on the Warhammer universe, and I am a sucker for a good story.

The Sunfire Spear is supposedly the weapon of the great archangel, known only through legend. If that’s not the kind of thing you want decorating your game room then I don’t know what is!

Mortar

Every now and then you come across something that just catches your eye for reasons you can’t quite place. Whether you’re walking through a museum or casually perusing the shelves of a bookstore, sometimes something just jumps out at you without you really knowing why.

For me, that was this mortar. I don’t know if it’s the exquisite paint job or the high detailing of the often-underrepresented heavy weapon. Don’t ask me why, I just think it will look awesome on a Warhammer battlefield!

The Chaplain

3D printing minifigures of any kind is fairly simple, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few things to keep in mind so you get the best results you can. No Warhammer player wants to set out on the battlefield with subpar figurines.

So here we’re going to go over a few little hints to make sure your fighters are ready for combat!

Dig a Little Deeper

Warhammer is a licensed franchise, and many of the designs we’ve looked at here are fan-made. Naturally, there are copyright implications to using official terms and titles.

You could be overwhelmed by simply searching ‘Warhammer’ on any given site. While you’ll still find some excellent STL files for minifigures like what we’ve seen here, there are far more files out there that have avoided official terminology for fear of having their designs taken down.

To help with this article, I dug deep into the searches and followed a lot of new collections from artists who avoided patented names and terms. So don’t give up if you don’t find what you want on first glance, there’s always more out there!

Be Aware of your Printer’s Limitations

A great draw of Warhammer is how highly detailed the figures are. Naturally, we’ve seen a lot of similarly defined designs here.
